Late Roman Centurion Helmet - 18 Gauge Steel
Our Late Roman Centurion Helmet is made from steel with leather interior. This Centurion Helmet has a central metal crest and is similar to the light infantry helmet, probably worn by auxiliaries instead of the legions. It seems to have been based on the similar "ridge" helmets of Rome's enemy, the Sassanian Persian empire. The eyes placed on the front of the helmet are reminiscent of the eyebrows on the fronts of the Imperial Gallic Helmets, and appear to be a Roman feature, not seen on Persian helmets.

Imperial Gallic G Roman Helmet - 18 Gauge Brass

The original Imperial Gallic G Roman Helmet was found at Aquincum, and hence the name. It has been classified under the same category as the other artifact found at Mainz, but bears a few slight variations. Also made of brass, and dating from the third or fourth quarter of the 1st century AD, this helmet has different crest mount, possibly intended to hold a "falling plume" of horsehair rather than a traditional crest box. Our Imperial Gallic G Roman Helmet is functional.

In 1884 the Metropolitan Fire Brigade (the precursor to the New South Wales Fire Brigade) was formed in Sydney Australia.

This helmet is a fine example of the protective headgear provided to firemen in the NSW Brigade. Our NSW Fireman Helmet, New South Wales Fire Brigade is made from brass, 1890-1900. This Brass Fireman's helmet comes with the inscription 'NSWFB' embossed over centre front. The NSW Fireman helmet has a cockade embossed with fire breathing dragons.
