The 15th Century Open Faced Sallet Helm was preferred by crossbowmen, archers, spearmen and even cannoneers when rapidly developing firearms appeared on the battlefield. Infantry troops willingly sacrificed the extra protection of closed helmets for a better view and more air. The 15th Century Open Faced Sallet Helm makes an excellent reenactment or LARP helmet. Constructed from 16 gauge steel.
